Back in May, Carter fell and broke his hip while heading out to hunt turkey. He was in great spirits though, saying he wanted to fill his turkey tag before the season ended.
He fell again last month and broke his pelvis.
Many took to Twitter to offer condolences and prayers for the longest living president:
Sending healing vibes, and all my best hopes for a full recovery, to President Jimmy Carter, who is undergoing brain surgery. A concerned nation and world hold you in our hearts.
