Romney Gives His Hot Take Over Amash's Call For Impeachment...And It's Not What You'd Expect

Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) on Saturday took to Twitter to explain why he believes President Donald Trump's actions are impeachable. During an Sunday interview on CNN's "State of the Union," Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) said he thought Amash was "courageous" for making the statement but he disagreed with the Congressman's assessment.

"Justin Amash has reached a different conclusion than I have," Romney said. "I respect him. I think it’s a courageous statement, but I believe that to make the case for obstruction of justice, you just don’t have the elements."

Not only that but the former presidential candidate feels as though the American people don't believe impeachment proceedings should take place.

"An impeachment call is something that not just relates to the law but considers practicality and politics. And the American people just aren't there," Romney said.

The Senator also said that those who are calling for impeachment – primarily Democrats – need to look at who Trump's jury would be – the Senate – and realize "they're simply not there either."

Amash and Romney have been been critical of President Trump in the past. They're also the only two Republicans who have said the Trump campaign partook in any wrongdoing with Russia.
