According to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), if Attorney General William Barr refuses to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, he would be "obstructing justice."

“The attorney general of the United States is not the president’s personal lawyer, and he should act as the attorney general of the United States and honor his responsibilities," Pelosi said.

Speaker Pelosi's comments come after Attorney General Barr said he would not appear before the House Judiciary Committee if Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) decides to allow Committee party counselors to cross examine him.

Nadler each member of the Committee to have five minutes each to ask Barr whatever questions they saw fit in relation to the redacted areas of the Mueller report. The second round of questioning would include 30 minutes from each parties' Committee counselors.

Nadler said Barr "is not going to dictate the format of the Judiciary Committee."

If Barr decides not to testify in front of the Committee, Nadler said they're prepared to subpoena him.

According to the Associated Pressit appears that the Democrats are beginning to set the stage for impeachment proceedings:

But as Congress resumes Monday, the Democratic oversight and investigations agenda is starting to look a lot like the groundwork that would be needed to launch an impeachment inquiry. At some point, it’s a political difference rather than a practical one.

The Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hear testimony from Attorney General William Barr on Thursday. The Oversight Committee has reached an agreement with the White House for testimony this week on security clearances. The Intelligence Committee is probing Trump’s financial dealings. And the Ways & Means Committee is pursuing Trump’s tax returns.

Buckle your seatbelts, folks. This is bound to be a bumpy ride...and it's just beginning.
