Roskum Blames Pelosi for Silencing GOP

Rep. Peter Roskum (R.-Ill.) has some complaints about the way Speaker Pelosi is running the House this session.

In spite of all the talk nationally about bipartisanship Democrats have "accepted very little input from the minority" about the forthcoming economic stimulus bill Roskum said.

"And I think that's obviously coming from Speaker Pelosi," Roskum told reporters on a  conference call Friday afternoon.

He took issue with the inability for Republicans to offer amendments to the bill, saying, "It got to the point where it's become absurd. Instead of offering amendments members were simply speaking about them."

GOP Whip Rep. Eric Cantor (Va.) and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R.-Tex.) also participated in the call to draw attention to their party's concerns about the stimulus bill, which focused mainly on wasteful spending.

"There is such a huge portion [of money], hundreds of billions of dollars, not dedicated to the economy by stimuluting jobs." Cantor said.
