Hilda Solis, a Friend for Big Labor

Barack Obama was expected to appoint a pro-union official to head the Department of Labor and Hilda Solis is exactly the kind of hard-left, anti-business kind of woman that Big Labor will rejoice in having around.

The Congresswoman Solis is a sponsor of the Orwellian Employee Free Choice Act, the number one agenda item for Big Labor and her experience in the House will serve her well in navigating the legislative waters to get the bill passed. She also has close ties to Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Since 2002 she's recieved $121,000 in campaign contributions from labor organizations.

Solis is the daughter of Mexican and Nicuraguan immigrants and  currently represents a heavily Hispanic bloc of Los Angeles county.  Like most major unions Solis supports amnesty programs to grant illegal aliens citizenship.

She wrote on the Huffington Post last March, "As the daughter of union family -- my father was a Teamster and my mother worked tirelessly for 25 years -- I know that my seven siblings and I would not be where we are today without the wages and other protections my parents earned with the help of their union."

In April, she honored far-left labor icon Caesar Chavez in another HuffPo piece and boasted about the legislation she introduced to "authorize the Department of Interior to study lands important to the life of Chavez for possible inclusion in the National Park System."
