VP Announcement Leaks

The New York Times says Obama may be ready to announce his VP as early as tomorrow.

If all goes according to plan, the announcement will be made with text and e-mail messages to supporters early in the morning, in time to capture coverage on the morning news shows and take advantage of a full day’s news cycle," wrote reporters Adam Nagourney and Jeff Zeleny.

(That means I'll be sleeping next to my blackberry. Gotta get my text message from Barack!)

According to the Politico
, McCain will announce his VP on Friday, August 29 in the battleground state of Ohio---one day after Obama formally accepts the Democratic nomination for president in Denver. August 29 is also McCain's 72nd birthday.

The timing cannot be coincidental. McCain rolling out his VP on the 29th is sure to distract the media from obsessing over his age and take some of the afterglow away from Obama's historic nomination speech. Smooth.
