Bush to Lift Executive Order on OffShore Drilling

He'll make the announcement in a Rose Garden speech at 1:30pm.

For those unfamiliar with how all this works, here's a quick primer. Bush senior imposed a moratorium on offshore drilling by way of executive order. That ban was renewed by President Clinton though 2012. This is a big part of the reason why we can't drill offshore.

After President Bush signs his statement to lift the ban, the pressure will be on Congress to follow suit and lift their own legislative ban on offshore drilling.
