The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Friday evening that the United States Customs and Border Patrol stopped a Florida teenager wanted for allegedly killing his grandmother from fleeing the country, reports the Washington Times.

Logan Mott, age 15, was stopped by CBP in Buffalo, New York as he attempted to enter Canada. Two days earlier, Mott was named the top suspect in his grandmother’s mysterious death in Neptune Beach, Florida.
Logan’s father, Eric Mott, expected the boy and the grandmother to pick him up at Jacksonville International Airport on Wednesday. However, the two never arrived. After Eric Mott took an Uber home, he discovered he had been robbed. The house was torn apart and several of his belongings, including his silver Dodge Dart, were stolen. Logan Mott and his grandmother Kristine French were no where to be found.
After calling the police, authorities found French buried behind Mott’s home. Logan, however, was still missing and immediately became the number one suspect.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's office utilized Twitter during their two day manhunt. #LoganMott quickly spread, attached with the "wanted" poster above. The 15 year old somehow made it up the entire east coast, over 1,000 miles, to the northern border. Finally, authorities apprehended the alleged killer before he could escape America.
“We are relieved he is safe and in custody and we just ask for everyone to give us time to sort out what happened,” Carrie Campbell-Mott, the teen’s mother, said in a statement after her son was detained Friday. “Logan is our child and we love him and are standing by him to help in any way. We want to find out what happened to Kristina and we need time for that to happen.”
There are no other suspects at this time.
