Ocasio-Cortez: No Doubt Trump Is A Racist

AP Photo/Susan Walsh

The liberal media is giving Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez all the oxygen she can consume now that she’s a full-fledged member of Congress. Apparently, she offended Republicans past dancing videos from college. Not really, but that’s what some liberal publications think. No one cares. Frankly, she did what most college-aged girls do in the age of smartphones, YouTube, and social media. They’re cheesy, but whatever—attacking her views on taxes, her green energy agenda, and saying her election win was as significant as the moon landing are more effective. She’s a far left-winger. And she’s not playing with a full deck. Conservatives are falling into a similar trap liberals fell into with Trump: attack everything. Don’t do it. That only adds more press coverage, and I’d rather not take the Victor Frankenstein approach and create a political creature of our own. Let the liberals keep making that mistake.

Over the weekend, Ocasio-Cortez said that no doubt Trump is a racist because he uses dog whistles of white supremacy, meaning she has no evidence whatsoever (via CBS News):

In a 60 Minutes interview that touched on a number of subjects, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said there's "no question" President Trump is racist. The comment came after correspondent Anderson Cooper asked Ocasio-Cortez, "Do you believe President Trump is a racist?"

"Yeah. Yeah. No question," Ocasio-Cortez replied.

The rookie congresswoman cited the president's rhetoric as proof.

"When you look at the words that he uses, which are historic dog whistles of white supremacy," Ocasio-Cortez said. "When you look at how he reacted to the Charlottesville incident, where neo-Nazis murdered a woman, versus how he manufactures crises like immigrants seeking legal refuge on our borders, it's night and day."

[…]

"The president certainly didn't invent racism," Ocasio-Cortez said, "But he's certainly given a voice to it and expanded it and created a platform for those things."

Well, first of all, illegal immigration is not a manufactured crisis, neither is the situation at the border. Illegal aliens have murdered American citizens, so it’s not a whacko right-wing story. We have to get the border under control. Second, if respecting the flag, the national anthem, and support law enforcement are the dog whistles, she needs to be pressed on those matters. Ask for examples—I make this call to conservative writers, reporters, and bloggers because you know the Left’s allies in the media won’t do this. Those three things or any outwards displays of respect and deference to those who serve in our military and patriotic expressions are not dog whistles. The vast majority of the country would agree. The list of problematic things in liberal land is extensive and non-controversial. Such radicalism needs to be highlighted and attacked, not how she dresses. Also, she seems to have a tendency to shoot herself in the foot:
