College Professor on Las Vegas Shooting: This Is About 'White Supremacist Patriarchy'

Last night in Las Vegas was a night of horror for hundreds of people. Sixty-four-year old Stephen Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor on concertgoers from the Mandalay Bay Hotel, killing 50 and injuring over 400. Country singer Jason Aldean was on stage when the gunfire began. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility, and that Paddock had converted to Islam months ago. Yet, U.S. authorities are pushing back on this claim saying that there is no evidence to suggest that this act was connected to radical Islamic terrorism. Yet, Drexel University professor George Ciccariello had a different take: this is all about the white supremacist patriarchy. He also lamented how this debate won’t occur, or will be drowned out, because liberals will dominate the news cycle calling for more gun control. He also said that it was pure delusion to think that new gun laws would stop anyone with the mindset of gunning down and killing 50 people. He also said this is a byproduct of white entitlement. I’m not going to get into this debate. I don’t think anyone who isn’t an academic elitist would get into this. This is a time to mourn, pray, and gather what information is coming through the wires, not debate about this so-called white supremacist patriarchic system.

If this name sounds familiar, Ciccariello was the professor who was sickened that a passenger gave up their first class seat for a U.S. soldier.
