Alexandria Police Chief: We Responded To The Scalise Shooting Within Three Minutes

Alexandria Police Department Chief Michael Brown delivered a brief press conference earlier this morning. He said that calls of shots fired at 400 E. Monroe Avenue in Alexandria were heard around 7:09 A.M. Police officers responded within three minutes and two of them engaged the shooter. Chief Brown said no more statements would be made. He stressed it’s an active scene. It’s secure, and that they’re working with Capitol Police. They have a lot of witnesses to interview. Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), the House Majority Whip, was shot in the hit, along with two U.S. Capitol police officers. An aide to Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX) and the gunman were also shot.
