RNC Communications Director: Yeah, I Agree That Ted Cruz Is an A**hole; UPDATE: 'Unhelpful' Maybe More Accurate

UPDATE: While being interviewed with WMAL’s Larry O’Connor, Spicer seemed to walk back on agreeing with Rep. King’s language to describe Sen. Ted Cruz. He said Cruz’s address last night was more “unhelpful” than him acting like an a**hole.”

Well, many people are not mincing words about Sen. Ted Cruz’s address at Republican National Convention last night, where he refused to endorse Donald Trump. The Texas senator left the stage amidst loud boos that filled the Quicken Loans Arena. Katie wrote about the fallout, where New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said the speech was selfish. Rep. Peter King (R-NY) took it a step further calling Cruz an “a**hole.”

This morning, RNC communications director Sean Spicer told CNN’s John Berman that he would’ve used the same verbiage as King in describing how Cruz behaved last night. Spicer added that Cruz knows what’s at stake this election cycle, and if he didn’t feel comfortable endorsing Donald Trump as the nominee of the Republican Party—he just might as well have stayed home.

“So, Peter King doesn’t need to apologize for calling him a blank-hole?”

“Peter King is from New York. He uses very colorful language, I’ll let him speak for himself,” said Spicer.
