Three People Arrested In NYC With Weapons Cache; ?UPDATE: No Terror Threat, Just ‘Gun Enthusiasts’; UPDATE: Trio Planned To Rescue Heroin-Addicted Friend?

There are reports coming out of New York City that three people have been arrested at the Holland Tunnel, carrying body armor, 3,000 rounds of ammunition, knives, and firearms (via NBC News):

Three people were arrested with multiple loaded guns, rifles and ballistic vests at the Holland Tunnel Tuesday when police stopped them for driving with a cracked windshield, authorities tell NBC 4 New York.

The three individuals, two men in their 50s and a woman in her 20s who may be from Pennsylvania, were stopped on the New Jersey side of the tunnel around 8 a.m., authorities said. A search of their vehicle revealed the weapons cache.

UPDATE: It appears that these folks were just “gun enthusiasts,” with no connections to terror and no known threat.

UPDATE II: CBS New York says the trio was possibly on their way to shoot a drug dealer. Narcotics were found in the car. NBC News updated their original story, stating that one of those arrested reportedly told law enforcement that this was actually a rescue mission. One of their friends is addicted to heroin and allegedly being held against her will in Queens.
