Trump Blasts Russian Collusion Claims as 'Witch Hunt'

President Trump took to Twitter Tuesday morning to call out the lack of evidence showing collusion between his campaign and Russia as a “witch hunt.”

Trump quoted legal scholar Jonathan Turley, who said on Fox News: “I’ve been skeptical about the collusion and obstruction claims for the last year. I just don’t see the evidence....in terms of the collusion, it’s all a bit implausible based on the evidence we have.”

He also cited Judge Ken Starr, who said: “We’ve seen no evidence of collusion....I have seen nothing, the firing of James Comey and all of the aftermath, that suggests that the President has obstructed justice because he’s exercising his power as the President of the U.S. I just don’t see it.”

His conclusion was that the Russia probe is a “witch hunt”—a claim he’s made on numerous occasions. At one point Trump referred to special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election as “the single greatest witch hunt in American history.”

“The single greatest Witch Hunt in American history continues,” Trump tweeted in January. “There was no collusion, everybody including the Dems knows there was no collusion, & yet on and on it goes. Russia & the world is laughing at the stupidity they are witnessing. Republicans should finally take control!”
