Dems Freak Out Over Trump's Global Warming Tweet

Democrats were up in arms over President Trump’s tweet Thursday that mocked global warming.

Noting the record-breaking temperature throughout the East, the president joked that we “could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming.”

“In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against,” he wrote. “Bundle up!”

But Democratic lawmakers didn’t think the tweet was all that funny.

“I’m going to say something really crazy: I believe in science,” tweeted Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). “Climate change is real and we have a moral obligation to protect this Earth for our children and grandchildren.”

Her Democratic colleagues Sens. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) made similar remarks.

“Climate change is real and it poses a grave threat to our nation and our planet. It’s abundantly clear this Adminstration won’t tackle climate change head on, so state and local governments must,” Harris responded.

“This is just embarrassing,” Whitehouse said. “It’s clear facts don’t matter to you, but here’s the new climate report from your administration that affirms climate change is caused by human activity, and has serious health, economic, and environmental consequences. Read it.”

Meanwhile, Virginia Rep. Don Beyer accused Trump of being ignorant about the Paris Climate Agreement.

Lawmakers weren't the only ones to weigh in, however. Cast member of the “Jersey Shore” Vinny Guadagnino gave his two cents, although he was criticized for doing so.

“I think climate change is more complex than global warming will make it hotter. It has to do with disruptions of atmospheric conditions, ocean patterns, jet streams and shit like that,” he wrote.

“Per my last tweet about global warming and ppl saying it’s bad when someone from “jersey shore” educates the president etc.I get the joke but why does having a summer shore house automatically make u stupid? No smart ppl ever partied with friends on weekends?”

Chelsea Handler also used the tweet to attack the president, but was quickly mocked for her response.

"Hey dumbass, global warming doesn’t only mean extreme heat; it means extreme weather. Hot and cold. Maybe buy a thermometer and shove it up your ass," she wrote.
