Trump Tweets: NFL, ESPN, Immigration, and Healthcare

President Trump started off tweeting early Tuesday morning about the National Football League and ESPN, but also touched on policy issues including healthcare and immigration.

Noting that the NFL gets “massive tax breaks” yet at the same time disrespects the U.S., the president argued the tax law must be changed.

“Why is the NFL getting massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country? Change tax law!” he said.

He also commented on ESPN reporter Jemele Hill, who once called the president a “white supremacist.” The network suspended Hill Monday for her second violation of ESPN’s social media policy after she called for a boycott of the Dallas Cowboys’ advertisers because their owner, Jerry Jones, said he will bench any player who takes a knee during the national anthem.

“With Jemele Hill at the mike, it is no wonder ESPN ratings have "tanked," in fact, tanked so badly it is the talk of the industry!” Trump tweeted.

Turning to policy issues, Trump argued that, given their positions on immigration, Democrats don’t care about the safety and security of the United States.

“The problem with agreeing to a policy on immigration is that the Democrats don't want secure borders, they don't care about safety for U.S.A.,” he said.

Finally, since Congress has failed to deliver on healthcare, Trump said he’s taking matters into his own hands.

“Since Congress can't get its act together on HealthCare, I will be using the power of the pen to give great HealthCare to many people – FAST,” he wrote.
