Report: No Expectations Flynn Will Be Fired

President Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Flynn, will not step down after reports that he spoke with Russia about lifting sanctions prior to Trump taking office, a senior administration official told CNN. There are also no expectations that he will be fired, the official added.

But administration officials aren’t happy about the reports and hardly came to his defense on the Sunday talk shows.

"The knives are out," the official added, reports CNN. "There's a lot of unhappiness about this."

White House Policy Director Stephen Miller deflected questions about Flynn’s future in the administration Sunday, saying he wasn’t the appropriate person to ask.

When questioned about whether Flynn misled Vice President Mike Pence, who in January said Flynn did not talk about sanctions with Sergey Kislyak, Russian ambassador to Washington, Miller said he “didn’t have any answers today.”

"I don't have any information one way or another to add anything to the conversation."
