Carson Questions Judgment of Dems Who Are Bringing 'Not Pro-American' CAIR Officials to SOTU Address

In an effort to push back against what they perceive as “anti-Islamic language from the right,” some Democratic lawmakers, urged by DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, will be bringing officials from the Council on American-Islamic Relations as their guests to tonight’s State of the Union address.

Now, Ben Carson, among others, is questioning the judgment of two of those lawmakers, Reps. Zoe Lofgen (Calif.) and Alcee Hastings (Fla.), who have decided to bring the anti-American guests.

“They have done things that are clearly, you know, not pro-American,” Carson said about CAIR on CNN’s “New Day.”

“These are people who I have called for an investigation of,” he added. "We can’t now sit there and say these are buddy-buddies of ours, [so] let’s go ahead and investigate the thing.

“If they are our buddies, let’s put that clearly out there. And if they’re not our buddies, let’s not be giving them access to the ability to further carry on what they call a civilization jihad and to change us from a Judeo-Christian foundation to a Muslim foundation. We have got to be smarter than that.”

Let’s take a look at what Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch has to say about all of this:

CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case — so named by the Justice Department. CAIR operatives have repeatedly refusedtodenounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR’s cofounder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief spokesman (Ibrahim Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements. A California chapter distributed a poster telling Muslims not to talk to the FBI, and a Florida chapter distributed pamphlets with the same message. CAIR has opposed every anti-terror measure that has ever been proposed or implemented, and has been declared a terror organization by the United Arab Emirates.

Looks like Carson has a very good point.
