Jim Jordan on Rosenstein Impeachment Filing: We Are Sick of DOJ Giving Us the Finger

Last night members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee moved to file articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, alleging he has failed to properly comply with a number of document requests regarding the Special Counsel investigation into the 2016 presidential election.

Congressmen Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows have been leading the charge for documents and the impeachment of Rosenstein for months.

"Not only have subpoenas been ignored but information has been hidden and the efforts have been stonewalled. I guess for us, it's all about transparency so the American people can judge for themselves," Meadows said during an interview with Fox News' host Laura Ingraham. "They may be able to ignore Congress, but they can't ignore the American people."

"The bottom line is, we have sent numerous letters to Rod Rosenstein that they haven't complied with. Two subpoenas they haven't complied with. We've caught the Department of Justice hiding information, redacting information that should not have redacted. We know that Rod Rosenstein threatened House Intel Committee staffers. Threatened them, chilling impact when they were trying to do their job, our job, of the constitutional oversight we are supposed to do. And we all know what the Justice Department did with the dossier," Jordan said, adding that he has asked President Trump to declassify documents and compel DOJ to comply. "We're tired of the Justice Department giving us the finger and not giving us the information we are entitled to to do our constitutional duty. More importantly, the American people are sick of it and that's why we filed the resolution."

The Department of Justice has not issued comment in response to the impeachment filing, but has argued in the past that millions of documents have been made available to Congress. Nearly two dozen members and their staff have reviewed them.

Meanwhile, Judge Andrew Napolitano is pouring cold water over the issue.
