Turkish Officials Fire Over 15,000 Education Employees

Turkey’s ministry of education has fired 15,200 officials for their alleged involvement with a group the government claims is responsible for Friday’s failed military coup, according to the state-run Anadolu news agency.

It is also being reported that Turkey's High Education Board ordered the resignation of 1,577 deans at all universities.  

The statement from the government reads:

The events of July 15 have shown that all the people involved in activities of a terrorist group, should be completely excluded from all the spheres. Within this framework, Ministry of Education is carrying out a comprehensive activities to check staff in all the educational institutions.

Separately, Anadolu said 399 employees of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies have been stripped of their responsibilities.
