Head and Hands Cut Off of Catholic Statues in Boston

Saint Margaret’s Church in Burlington was startled this morning to find that their Virgin Mary statue had been desecrated along with several other religious statues on the property, according to CBS Boston,

 “I immediately noticed the head had been chopped off and as I got closer the hands had been broken off,” Father Frank Silva said.  “The initial feeling was things have been violated in many ways, certainly from a religious and spiritual perspective.”

The church says the statue of the blessed mother will be repaired and the perpetrators forgiven, but they do not condone the behavior.  

“We are on a high this Easter season,” Father Silva said. “To have something like this happen hits you right in the gut.”

Police are investigating but have no immediate leads.
