Timing? Kislyak's Assignment in Washington, DC Ends

Amid new reports about his conversations with then-Sen. Jeff Sessions, Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak has "completed his assignment in Washington, DC," according to the Russian Embassy.

Kislyak's name has been in the news constantly this year related to meetings he had with numerous members of the Trump team in 2016. Kislyak is a central figure in the investigations into Russian interference in the election.

He served as envoy since 2008, and is reportedly under consideration for a counterterrorism post at the United Nations.
