That's All Folks: CNN's Hillary Clinton Documentary Is No More

CNN has put the kibosh on plans for a documentary on Hillary Clinton. No, it’s not because they realized their network was supposed to remain unbiased, in fact it appears the Clinton camp wasn’t too happy with the idea of the documentary. The planned director of the film decided to scrap the project after he received word about concerns with the film.

The director, Charles Ferguson, broke the news in a blog post for the Huffington Post. In his article Ferguson said the Clinton team said they would not be cooperating with the film. According to Ferguson, Hillary’s press secretary “interrogated” him after the film was announced.

The blog post went on to say:

“He interrogated me; at first I answered, but eventually I stopped,” Ferguson said. “When I requested an off-the-record, private conversation with Mrs. Clinton, Merrill replied that she was busy writing her book, and not speaking to the media."

“I would have loved to explore all this. But when I approached people for interviews, I discovered that nobody, and I mean nobody, was interested in helping me make this film," Ferguson said. "Not Democrats, not Republicans — and certainly nobody who works with the Clintons, wants access to the Clintons, or dreams of a position in a Hillary Clinton administration.”

CNN Films said it won’t be looking for other partners for the project.

"Charles Ferguson has informed us that he is not moving forward with his documentary about Hillary Clinton. Charles is an Academy Award winning director who CNN Films was excited to be working with, but we understand and respect his decision," a CNN spokesperson said.

It looks like the Clinton camp already has some serious control in the media. Back in August there was a huge uproar over this and one other TV series that would highlight the former first lady and Secretary of State. Even though the woman has yet to announce any plans for 2016, it’s clear she already has quite a bit of power in the media. Let’s remember to keep a skeptical eye on the many news outlets.
