NH Poll: Kasich, Fiorina Crack Top Five

Lots of movement in the latest Franklin Pierce/Boston Herald poll conducted in the Granite State. Two notable developments: Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) and businesswoman Carly Fiorina finished in third and fifth place, respectively.

Movin' on up.

Donald Trump: 18 percent

Jeb Bush: 13 percent

John Kasich: 12 percent

Ted Cruz: 10 percent

Carly Fiorina: 9 percent

Unfortunately, the results of the poll were teased via Boston Herald Radio, and thus we don’t have access to all the internals or the print version yet. But listening in I picked up a few interesting tidbits. Most notably, Carly Fiorina’s favorability numbers are wildly impressive: 57 percent of respondents view her favorably whereas just 12 percent view her unfavorably. At the same time, a plurality (23 percent) believe she has “the best qualifications” to be president. So it appears her debate performance really put her on the map, thereby moving the needle in her favor.

Meanwhile, Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) fared relatively poorly in the survey, dropping to four percent overall in the Granite State — although Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) must be disconsolate:

If Christie loses New Hampshire, he’s in deep trouble. I’ll leave you with this:

Note: Boston Herald Radio reports that 414 likely GOP voters participated in the survey. It was conducted August 7-10.
