Update: Harry Reid Clarifies Wildly Insensitive Remark

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid came under heavy fire yesterday from conservatives for cringe-inducing remarks he made vis-à-vis the government shutdown and its effect on children with cancer. Go back and watch the full video in case you missed it. Of course, Reid never did formally apologize for what he said. Are you surprised? He did, however, attempt to blame Republicans for spreading “shameful” lies about him:

As Guy recently noted, Reid’s one-liner was in-context. Watch the full interview again if you don’t believe me. If anything, this was a gaffe -- plain and simple -- and Reid should just apologize and move on. We all make mistakes and say dumb things we don't mean sometimes, right?
