One of Pence's Female Advisors Pushes Back at 'False Claim' About His Views on Gender

Vice President Mike Pence has apparently had a lot to defend himself for lately. Last week, openly gay 2020 presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg accused the VP of being a bigot and he's "afraid" to see him wield so much power. U.S. ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, who is also openly gay, doesn't share those concerns. He bluntly told Buttigieg that he had no idea what he was talking about.

Another 2020 Democratic candidate demonized Pence the very next day when Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) expressed her disdain for the VP's ideas about gender.

"I disagree when he suggests it's not possible to have meetings with women alone by himself," she said. "I think that's ridiculous, the idea that you would deny a professional woman the opportunity to have a meeting with the VP is outrageous."

Again, someone who has actually worked closely with the VP was compelled to speak out and note that Harris wasn't quite right. Alyssa Farah, who serves as a senior advisor to Pence, said the boss she knows is not only respectful of women, but routinely recognizes their talent.

Harris is hardly the first Democrat to be outraged by Pence's supposed backwards gender norms.

Some Democrats have dared to call the vice president a "decent guy." But that honest opinion has come with a price.

Which of his religious beliefs or moral tenets will they criticize this week?
