MSNBC Mercilessly Mocks the Democrats' New Slogan

In case you missed it (you probably did because it was a scarce showing), Democrats unveiled their new agenda for the American people. “The Better Deal” initiative, according to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, is the change the Democrats need after losing big in both 2014 and 2016. To his credit, he admitted that Hillary Clinton did not lose because of Russia.

This time, the Democrats are ready to "articulate a strong, bold economic program for the middle class." As House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) explained, they have the right message, they just need a "presentation correction."

Yet, even the anchors on MSNBC were unimpressed with their new effort.

Their first problem, analyst Eugene Robinson said Tuesday on “Morning Joe,” is the uninspiring slogan.

“A Better Deal” is “not terribly bold,” and doesn’t connect with people, he said. “There’s nothing there that sort of punches you in the gut."

Mika Brezinzski nodded.

By putting out a slogan before finding a leader, “they’re setting themselves up,” she agreed.

Her co-anchor and fiancé Joe Scarborough was least impressed of all of them. The new Democratic agenda he said, is “bland,” “vanilla,” and “terrible.”

“They’re scared of their own shadow” and are setting themselves in a nice position to lose another “unlosable” election in the November midterms.

Yet, finding a leader has been a tall order for the embattled party as of late. NBC’s Katy Tur has been trying to get an answer from Democrats but guest after guest has failed to produce a name.
