Anderson Challenges Hillary to Defend Her Shifting Views: “Will You Say Anything to Get Elected?”

“Will you say anything to get elected?” Anderson Cooper’s first question at Tuesday’s Democratic debate in Las Vegas was a doozy for Hillary. After listing a host of times she’s changed her tune on different issues: trade, gay marriage, etc., the CNN anchor asked the frontrunner very pointedly if her views only change when it’s politically expedient. Hillary struggled to find a defense:

Her views, she said, have been “very consistent over the course of my entire life."

Her record begs to differ. Ahead of tonight’s debate, the RNC unveiled a list of her 20 worst flip flops. Raising the debt limit, arming Syrian rebels, and rejecting the Keystone pipeline were just a few.

"Like most human beings...I do absorb new information," Clinton insisted. "I think like most people that I know, I have a range of views."

Later in the evening, Clinton again defended her shifting policy positions, saying “If you’re learning, your views tend to change.”

Is this a justifiable explanation? Primary voters will let her know.

One final flip flop was exposed in Cooper’s follow up question: Is Hillary a moderate or a progressive?

"I'm a progressive, but I'm a progressive who likes to get things done," she answered.

In September, she “pleaded guilty” to being a moderate.
