Today, President Donald Trump and his wife Melania will visit Texas to tour emergency operations centers and to be briefed on the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey. The two boarded Air Force One early this morning, and will land in Corpus Christi around 11:30 before traveling to Austin to meet with Texas leadership. This is the first major natural disaster of the Trump presidency, and many are considering this to be an important test of his leadership skills.

So, of course, people fixated on how Melania Trump wore a pair of heels on the way to the plane.
That's First Lady Melania Trump leaving to tour the Texas flooding in four-inch stiletto heels. pic.twitter.com/u7rr4aHKUa— Jeremy Parker ?? (@astutepanther) August 29, 2017
And I see Melania has a cute jacket and her "visiting a disaster area" heels on this morning, too. Presidential & First Lady cosplay.— CCollison (@jawarajabbi) August 29, 2017
Melania is headed to Houston wearing six inch heels...ok girl— Tasha Mack (@Nique1922) August 29, 2017
I'm being petty here, but I'll bet Melania has never been in a storm zone in 4 inch high heels. Hope there are rubber boots on board AF1. https://t.co/Dkamdp63zw— AllRightAltLeft (@sweetbay) August 29, 2017
Did Melania sign a contract saying she would wear heels 24/7? #GoodGrief— Heather Hampton (@6LambsMom) August 29, 2017
This isn't the first time Melania (and the other Trump women) have been criticized for their choice in footwear. Earlier in August, Newsweek published a rather odd piece about Melania's preference for stiletto heels.
Glad we're focusing on the important things!
