Russia and Ukraine have taken their conflict to a new battlefield: Twitter.
Ukraine shot first, pointing out that Anne de Kiev, a French person of Ukrainian descent, was the original owner of the Riems Gospel and was primarily the reason why Russia and France established relations. This book was used during French coronation ceremonies. At the same time in Moscow, Ukraine claimed, there were nothing but birch trees.
Russia, perhaps unimpressed by the joke, tweeted that they were proud to share common heritage with both Belarus and the Ukraine. They also pointed out that parts of Russia were quite developed in the early 11th century.
And then Ukraine dropped the hammer with a Simpsons gif, saying that Russia hasn't changed since its Soviet days.
What a time to be alive.
