Sen. McCaskill Will Not Support Gorsuch

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) announced on Friday that she would not be supporting Neil Gorsuch, President Donald Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court. This is in contrast to her Democratic colleagues Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), who said on Thursday that they will be supporting Gorsuch.

The Senator called it a "really difficult decision" and plans on voting no on both the procedural vote and his confirmation. She also feels as though the Senate will likely have a rule change that will result in "more extreme judges in the future." She also said that she feels as though he has a "stunning lack of humanity."

This is a really difficult decision for me. I am not comfortable with either choice. While I have come to the conclusion that I can’t support Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court?—?and will vote no on the procedural vote and his confirmation?—?I remain very worried about our polarized politics and what the future will bring, since I’m certain we will have a Senate rule change that will usher in more extreme judges in the future.
