Former Israeli President Shimon Peres Dies At Age 93

Former Israeli President Shimon Peres passed away on Tuesday at a hospital in Tel Aviv, two weeks after suffering a stroke. He was 93.

Peres was the last surviving member of Israel's founding fathers. In 1994, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize along with Yasser Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin for his work in the Middle East peace process.

Peres served as president from July 2007 until July 2014. He had previously served as prime minister on two occasions, and twice as an interim prime minister.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a brief statement on Twitter expressing "deep personal sorry" at Peres' passing.

Rest in peace.
