IRS Employees Lawyer Up

Lois Lerner and Holly Paz, both IRS employees implicated in the targeting scandal, have hired some heavy-hitting lawyers to represent them.  Judging from the evidence, that's a wise decision.

At a bare minimum, it's apparent that Lerner illegally released confidential taxpayer information.  At a bare minimum, it's obvious Paz has been considerably less-than-forthcoming with congressional investigators.

Amusingly, the Politico piece concludes with a source confiding that Lerner just wants to "move on with her life."  If that's really true, she can come clean with the American people for whom she works, apologize to those who have been hurt by her agency's outrageous behavior, resign and face the consequences of what she's done.  That'd be a good start.
