Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown is imploring the Supreme Court to reject a challenge to the state's ban on so-called assault weapons, arguing that the ban on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms is constitutional and, even if there are open questions, the matter is best left to "percolate" in the lower courts instead of getting a substantive answer from SCOTUS.
