Alanis Morrissette's Performance on Jimmy Fallon Adorably Interrupted by Her Daughter

Alanis Morissette has one of the most recognizable voices in the music industry. But you'd have a hard time hearing it during her latest performance. In her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Morissette attempted to sing her new single, "Ablaze," only to be adorably interrupted by her daughter Onyx every few seconds.

Onyx asked her mom questions throughout the song, to which Morissette always politely answered in between lyrics. At one point, Onyx even put her hand over her mom's mouth. Not exactly perfect circumstances for singing.

But the performance still got rave reviews. Morissette appeared to be having a really fun time and laughed off all of her daughter's interruptions.

Morissette's decision to include her daughter in the shot did not seem to be any accident. "Ablaze" is a dedication to her children. She's been pretty candid about motherhood and how she struggled through postpartum depression after having each of her three children. The singer was hesitant to release the emotional album during the coronavirus pandemic. But after some more thought, she decided it was the perfect time.

"I really offer these songs up and if it can offer some validation or some comfort or some knowledge about their not being alone,'' she said. "Especially with so many of us at home, just to have music is just that universal balm, hug."

Morissette is most known for iconic hits "One Hand in My Pocket," "You Oughta Know," and "Ironic." Her new album, "Such Pretty Forks in the Road," is her first in eight years.
