James Corden's extended Carpool Karaoke with Beatle Paul McCartney this summer was an emotional roller coaster for fans. The late late show host took McCartney back to his humble beginnings in Liverpool, England, where we discovered how some of his most iconic songs were born. In one especially moving moment, the crooner shared with Corden how "Let It Be" came to be. He explained that he once had a dream in which his "mum" told him that despite all of the hatred in the world, everything was going to be okay. The story choked Corden up, as I'm sure it did many viewers.
Corden's latest passenger may evoke even more tears. Singer Michael Bublé joined Corden for the newest Carpool Karaoke to sing some of his most famous tunes, get candid about his weight, and open up about his son's terrifying battle with cancer.
His son was diagnosed at just 3 years old. After struggling to speak for several moments, Bublé shared as much as he could from that painful period.
"We just took it day by day," the singer said.
Bublé's entire extended family decided to take their kids out of school and just be near the hospital with his son.
"We just had the best doctors and God thank you, Jesus Christ, God," he said.
Corden asked where Bublé and his wife found the strength to pull through the painful episode. It turns out it became a shared duty. While the singer said he was the source of strength during the diagnosis, he literally "fell" once the chemotherapy was complete and their son had been cured.
"My wife picks me up now," Bublé shared.
The singer gave even more kudos to his son, though.
"I always say to him Spiderman's amazing, Superman's amazing. But they're fake. You're a superhero. You're my hero. My real superhero."
In what I think is a first for Carpool Karaoke, Bublé spoke directly to the camera and pleaded with the audience to Stand Up to Cancer.
They ended by singing a beautiful rendition of Bublé's old single "Home."
