Ron DeSantis has finally jumped in the ring. And you're going to be shocked that the Trump guys called DeSantis' launch "the biggest disaster ever, an epic fail!" But I thought it was pretty interesting the way he did it, getting around the media gatekeepers, which he gave apoplexy. Stuff it, you saps. A little later, we did a media call with him, and they let me ask him a question. My question was, "Governor, good to talk to you again. You're a military guy. I'm interested in strategy. You have to take down Donald Trump to get into the general. What is your strategy for rebuilding the party after the primary and then taking it to Joe Biden?" In his response, he said a lot. He went on, in detail, about how he's going to aim for independents, we'll see him do ballot harvesting where it is legal, and interestingly to me, he did not say he was going to make a concerted effort to win over super Trump fans. I think he believes most of them will come around if he wins, and I believe most of them will – by the way, I am committed to voting for whoever wins the nomination (even Nikki Haley, which will literally make me cry). Now DeSantis is running on his record, but will he hit Trump? He's going to draw comparisons, but at some point, if he wants to win the nomination, he will have to defeat Donald Trump. Can he do it? I don't know.
