People throughout the country have watched in growing disillusionment as the establishment have continually attacked President Trump for being an outsider wanting to tear down the rigged system which suppresses the average American. For seven years, the Democrats along with establishment Republicans have coordinated with their allies in the intelligence community, the Department of Justice, and corporate media and Big tech to wage an everlasting campaign to remove him from the playing field because he stands in the way of the administrative state's attempts to change this constitutional republic to an oligarchical empire replete with praetorian guard to maintain power at all costs.

It is hard to argue that there is not a two-tiered system of justice in this country. Justice is not blind today, it is focused and weaponized, targeted at the enemies of the establishment.

Sadly, President Trump is not the sole national populist in the crosshairs, as here in Texas we have a similar situation with Attorney General Ken Paxton.  Now in the fairness of full disclosure, I have been close personal friends with Ken and his wife, Angela, for close to 20 years and have found him to be a genuine servant leader wanting to use his office to protect “We the People.”

Rather than rehash the merits of the claims against Ken from my personally biased position - something the media is all too happy to provide as they never seem able to check their biases - I want to highlight the miscarriage of justice in the manner in which these attacks have occurred.

In 2015, less than a year into his first term as the state Attorney General, Paxton was indicted on securities fraud in Collin County.  The SEC then followed along in 2016 and filed suit as well. In 2017, a federal judge tossed the SEC’s lawsuit ruling in Ken’s favor, but the criminal complaint continued. Living in Collin County with the supposed criminal act taking place in Collin County one would assume that the trial would be held in Collin County.  Prosecutors argued that Paxton’s popularity would unduly influence the jury and thus transferred the case to Tarrant County with no logical ties to the defendant, the supposed criminal activity, nor the alleged victims.

Ken’s legal defense team successfully argued that Collin County should not pay for the prosecution’s legal fees and that the judge in Tarrant County was not suitably impartial.  One would suppose that the trial would have been remanded back to Collin County, right? No, somehow it was transferred to the Democrat bastion of Harris County where things continued to go bad for the prosecution leading to the defense successfully arguing that the case return to Collin County in 2020.  This was immediately appealed by the prosecution to the state’s Criminal Court of Appeals.  This court has subsequently sat on the appeal, thus leaving Ken in a perpetual state of limbo where his political opponents can continue to say that he remains under indictment.

With all of this on full public display and who knows how many millions in taxpayer funds being used to pursue this, Paxton still won reelection in 2018.

In the 2022 election, Paxton faced a crowded primary field, beat George P. Bush in the runoff by a greater than 2:1 margin, and then cruised to victory in the general election with close to 4 million votes and a nearly 12-point win. The people of the great State of Texas had spoken, and Ken Paxton was their attorney general serving the will of the people despite the very public smears.

And then something very astonishing happened.  At the close of Texas’ 88th congressional session, the speaker of the house, Dade Phelan, brought a rushed motion to impeach Ken Paxton.  The AG’s office had reached a $3.3 million settlement agreement with the three plaintiffs in the wrongful termination suit, which Speaker Phelan claimed was predicate enough. Unbeknownst to the public, the Texas House had been conducting a General Investigating Committee hearing on Paxton’s impeachment behind closed doors.  The committee was comprised of five investigators, with ties to Merrick Garland and the Biden administration.  The secretive hearings were held without witnesses under oath and the AG’s office was not allowed to rebut, present evidence, or submit the outside independent report on the matter.  And then after a four-hour debate on the House floor, with no new evidence being brought forward, the House voted to impeach AG Paxton.

Nothing like this has ever happened in the history of this state. Speaker Phelan just decided to suppress the vote of nearly 4 million Texans.

The matter is now in the hands of the Texas Senate, which is comprised of 19 Republicans and 12 Democrats. The average Texan is outraged at this sham impeachment and miscarriage of justice.  And yet, just as with President Trump, it appears that the political establishment has no concern for voter sentiment and are only concerned with removing political rivals from the board.
