Why Is Nancy Pelosi Still in Congress?

Remember when Democrats lost the House and Nancy Pelosi announced she was no longer going to lead the Democrats, handing over leadership to New York Congressman Hakeem Jeffries? You have to remember it, Jeffries is black and that fact had Democrats and the media pleasuring themselves over how they’d selected a “historic” first. Well, it’s been a while now and you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn’t think old Nancy is still in charge of Democrats in the House. That begs the question, why is she still there?

The deal was Nancy Pelosi would stick around for a little while to help the new leadership team understand how the House works – something wildly condescending, if you think about it – then she would resign. Parties can only have one leader at a time, right?

Well, it’s been seven months and Nancy shows not only no sign of resigning, she shows no sign if giving up control of the Democrat caucus in the House.

I sign up for all the left-wing fundraising emails I can get, mostly because they’re absolutely hilarious. I challenge any sane person to read them without laughing hysterically while feeling a deep sense of despair that stupidity of this nature works on anyone in this country.

Putting that aside, once you’re on enough email lists you start getting emails from organizations you didn’t sign up for because politicians sell your contact information to each other, thinking if someone was a sucker for one candidate or cause they could easily become one for another. There’s a lot of money in it.

I suddenly started getting emails from Nancy Pelosi’s campaign. I never signed up for, why would I when she was stepping down? Not so fast.

Pelosi’s campaign is emailing more often than Hakeem Jeffries does, probably under her orders, so she can keep her hands on the cash and control where it goes. The person who controls the money is the one in charge, no matter what they signs on the doors say.

But it’s not just campaign cash, it’s the media too.

Jeffries gets his share of media hits on MSNBC and CNN, seemingly afraid to go anywhere else. But he is overshadowed in every way by Nancy Pelosi. She’s more important than he is, easily.

When Hakeem appears on TV he is “Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries,” when Nancy shows up she’s “Former Speaker of the House” or “Speaker Emeritus.” Which sounds more impressive to an audience?

Her existence blocks out his, easily.

Personally, I hate how former office holders maintain their titles. Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the Constitution states, “No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”

I suppose an argument could be made that the second part means it only applies to foreign-granted titles, but the first part clearly states the US can’t grant any at all. We can argue all day over whether or not former position titles are akin to nobility, but they’ve been every bit as monetized as any royal title has.

Nevertheless, Nancy Pelosi remains in Congress and leader of the Democrats. Not de facto leader, but leader in everything but name.

Does Pelosi not trust a black man to do as good of a job as she thinks she did? If these were Republicans we are talking about the question would’ve at least been asked by now, multiple times per day by the very same Morning Joe crew who bows in affection with every Pelosi appearance.

But they don’t seem to even care when it’s one of their own; their dear leader. They fawn over her still, after having patted themselves on their backs for being a part of anointing a black man Democrat leader in the House.

Where is the outrage from the left-wing activists? Where is the anger directed toward the rich, old white lady who would only give up the ceremonial title of leadership but not the actual position and power?

Minnesota Attorney General and detestable racist pig Keith Ellison recently compared Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to a house slave from the movie “Django Unchained” because Ellison views thinking for himself as some sort of sell-out. I wonder what Ellison thinks of being a public face of something while someone else is really running the show? Since they’re Democrats, Ellison probably doesn’t think anything of it. In the hive mind, everyone knows their place.
