Brave Journalists Offer To Sacrifice Themselves For The Good Of The Country

We often hear of how awful journalists are, mostly because they’re terrible people who spend more time actively advancing a liberal agenda than they do concerned with anything resembling the truth. But we only hear about those things because they’re true. What we don’t hear about is their selflessness, their heroic actions to protect others. Well, it’s about time we recognize that aspect of who these people are.

Over the last few weeks, there’s barely a journalist across the country, and certainly not in the White House press corps, who haven’t all but said, should they become infected with coronavirus, they will not take either Hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine. This selfless act leaves more of the potential treatment for the deadly virus for other Americans. That makes these self-appointed “champions of the First Amendment” heroes, at least in my book.

Of course, none of them have publicly stated they wouldn’t take the drug, but what other conclusion could one draw from their endless stream of mind numbingly stupid questions and arguments with President Trump?

These heroes stood up to a President who correctly pointed out that the decades old malaria and rheumatoid arthritis drug showed promise as a treatment for COVID-19 elsewhere in the world. For that, he had to be called out. Luckily, for a nation desperate for hope, these Democrats with press passes were there to express outrage.

But it wasn’t just outrage, it was also anger. “How dare the President offer people hope in trying times?” they insisted. They’d spent a long time scaring the hell out of people while blaming the President for a virus and simultaneously lecturing everyone on how noting the geographical origin of the virus is racist. Like a laser, they were focused on what matters most - helping Democrats.

Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t helping Democrats. No matter what fake outrage they made up, the American people weren’t interested in turning to Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi for leadership. Biden doesn’t know where he is half the time, so much so that his campaign amounts to elder abuse. As for Pelosi, she was too busy counting the money she’d scored for her friends in the coronavirus relief package to be seen.

Unable to offer an alternative on the national stage, they manufactured one. Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York, became their star. While accusing the President of incompetence, they elevated a man whose actual job it was to prepare his state for a pandemic and didn’t do it. Journalists were willing to overlook this massive shortcoming, either through contempt or ignorance of the Constitution. Donald Trump had to be blamed, everything else was secondary.

But Governor Cuomo made a serious mistake - he looked for a way to help his fellow New Yorkers and found it in the drug the President had been touting. To his credit, he could have ignored Hydroxychloroquine’s promises, allowed them to be drowned out by the media chorus insisting the President was a “snake-oil salesman,” but he didn’t. He asked for the drug and got it. At which point he became must less interesting to the national media.

Journalists floundered, searching for a new champion. They’ve flirted with others (the Governor of Michigan was one of them), but they’ve all come around to a willingness to try Hydroxychloroquine, if only out of desperation.

With no suitable heroes left, reporters were left with little choice but to become their own heroes.

And endless barrage of stories about how the President was pushing an “unproven” drug that has been in continuous use since before most of the outlets complaining about it were formed began appearing every day. It was enough to make you wonder how many deaths would satisfy their bloodlust; how many families had to suffer for it to be enough?

Conversely, anecdotes, personal patient and doctor testimonials, and small studies began to surface on the positive impact of Hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for coronavirus.

Uninterested and undeterred, these keyboard warriors held the line. These press corps suicide bombers will not let reality stand in the way of their narratives.

“Clinical trials,” they insisted, are needed for answers, knowing those would take at least a year, “anything else is quackery!” Content to let people suffer and die, happy to discourage people away from hope, they sit proudly, peacocking for the cameras, marinated in the smug satisfaction one can only achieve in the echo chamber of a newsroom.

While they haven’t explicitly said they’d refuse the drug should they become sick, to take it would be the last full measure of hypocrisy they could achieve. Because of that, we must assume they are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for the cause and save every last dose for the rest of us. For that, they are heroes.

Just ask them.
