It’s an odd juxtaposition that in 2019 the self-professed “party of science” is pushing all their chips into the center of the table against the concept of biology. Democrats have rejected not only biology, but all of human history and their own eyes to embrace the idea that what constitutes a “man” or a “woman” is now open to interpretation. To think otherwise, to believe your lying eyes, is now on its way to being a hate crime.
Were this just a passing fad you could maybe laugh it off. But this delusion is being codified in law in states across the country. California made it a crime for state workers to use the wrong pronoun in nursing homes. When it was reported that people could face jail time for this “offense,” the left-wing PolitiFact leapt to declare it “misleading and inflammatory.” The only problem is they also admitted they “also found an element of truth: Violations of the bill could, under limited circumstances, be treated as a misdemeanor with punishment of up to one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.”
That’s exactly what conservative news sites had been reporting, but somehow it’s misleading when conservatives report it.
Fear not, fans of the clear definitions of words and biology, PolitiFact found a law professor who assured them “the bar for criminal prosecution would be extremely high.” Of course, these are the same people who assured us we could never be pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt, it would always just be an additional ticket were we pulled over for something else. Thanks to the creeping hand of government, you can be pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt now.
None of this is to defend people driving without seatbelts, it’s to illustrate how government works, particularly so-called “progressive” government. Like the Blob, they inch along a little at a time, expanding ever-more into areas we were told it would never go.
On the transgender issue, I suspect most people are like me – I don’t care what you call yourself or insist you are, it’s your life and you can live it or screw it up however you like. Just extend the same courtesy to me and everyone else. But leftists aren’t willing to extend that courtesy, they want control.
It’s not enough that a man be free to prance around in a dress demanding to be called “Chelsea,” everyone else must also call him Chelsea and celebrate his existence as a woman. Live and let live has been replaced by celebrate or else.
Call traitor Bradley Manning “Bradley” or Caitlyn Jenner “Bruce” and you’ll be accused of “dead-naming” and be banned from social media. Personally, I have no use for any Jenner, so the odds of me using either name are slim. As for Bradley, I have a policy of showing his lifestyle choices as much respect as he showed our national security secrets with which he was trusted.
Still, I couldn’t care less about Brad or anyone else. A person’s private life is theirs. As long as what anyone does something with is of age and willing, knock yourselves out. But now this delusion is creeping again, this time into sports.
The top female track stars in Connecticut high school sports are boys, and they crushed the competition. As the father of two girls under 2-years-old, by the time they’re old enough to compete, if boys are allowed in, they and no other girls will stand a chance. That’s not me talking, it’s that pesky science again. Men are, on average, stronger than women, and they’re faster. As I wrote in my book:
“Usain Bolt is the current world record holder for the 100-meter dash, completing the run in just 9.58 seconds. The women’s world record is held by the American Florence Griffith Joyner at almost a second slower, 10.49 seconds. Flo-Jo’s record would easily crush the speed of 99.9 percent of the world’s population, and not just because there are more people better qualified to be competitive eaters than competitive runners. But she would be an afterthought if she ran in the men’s race in the Olympics, as her women’s world record would have been a distant last-place finish in the men’s finals at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The last-place finisher in the 100-meter finals posted a time of 10:06 seconds.”
It doesn’t matter what someone says or thinks they are, they are what biology (not surgery and hormone pills) dictates they are. You can live your life however you want, but men competing with women is imposing your life on others, and it’s wrong.
Since leftists now demand gender fluidity is real, that a person can declare themselves to be the opposite of what they are or not at any given moment, what would stop any aging male athlete to retire to a second career dominating women’s sports? Michael Jordan could proclaim himself Michelle and rule the WNBA; Tiger Woods, bad back and all, would rack up one LPGA Tour victory after another, not to mention a whole bunch of dates. Imagine the outcry.
But that outcry would have to be tempered by the rules leftists are now imposing – that you can’t question anyone’s declared identity. There aren’t many professional women’s sports, but they’d all be fair game for duffers and scrubs to take over. The Olympics are already getting on board with this concept, so you can kiss goodbye any actual female weightlifter or track medalists, and wresting won’t be far behind.
Or we could simply admit reality – that men and women are biologically different – what someone feels like is irrelevant to that truth. Let people live their lives however they wish, but when it starts to infringe on others, biology wins the day. Either that or we all agree to look back on what East Germany did to their female athletes not as the disgrace it was, but as early progressive.
