Republicans’ Game Plan for Success: How Football Can Help the GOP Win Gen Z

Gen Z – it’s time to wake up and vote early. Here’s how.

I live 10 minutes away from the University of Alabama, the home of the greatest college football program in history, so I would be missing a huge opportunity if I didn’t use football analogies to get my point across!

1. Put Points on the Board Early

Football teams who are successful often have one thing in common – they put points on the board early. Good teams don't wait until the fourth quarter to wake up and start scoring. Here in Alabama it’s why the Crimson Tide has 18 National Championships. Eighteen! Obviously, what they’re doing has been working.

That’s why, earlier this year, the Republican National Committee launched Bank Your Vote – a nationwide campaign focused on getting Republicans to vote early. Whether it’s by mail or in person, the RNC will be working with the entire GOP ecosystem to make sure voters know how, where, and when to vote early or absentee.

With Bank Your Vote, College Republicans can vote easier than ever before. If you’re away at school and registered to vote back home, go to BankYourVote.com, request your ballot, and send it back in time (depending on your state’s rules). It’s a heck of a lot easier, and cheaper, than driving or catching a flight back home to vote.

Bottom line – vote early and get your vote counted before election day. The first day you can cast a ballot in your state, go vote.

2.  Tune Out the Rat Poison

Alabama football head coach, Nick Saban, calls external noise meant to rattle his team “rat poison.” That’s exactly what this is.

Want an example of rat poison? That Republicans aren’t doing enough to protect your vote. Safeguards like ID checks and signature verification will be required in more states in 2024 than in 2020! There are even tools the RNC can use to watch the progress of your ballot. Also, to use last cycle as an example, the RNC sent more than 80,000 poll watchers and workers to key precincts across the country to protect the integrity of our elections. This cycle, the Party plans to have even more poll watchers and poll workers so voters can rest easy knowing that once they bank their vote, it will be protected.

3.  Get on Offense

In 2024, if Republicans want to win, we must increase the number of the ballots that are cast before Election Day. Some of these plans include partnering with pre-existing infrastructure, like churches and local party groups, to ballot harvest where permitted. In 2024, Republicans are going to beat the Democrats at their own game by hosting events all over the country to collect ballots leading up to Election Day.

This election next November is far more important than any other. So much is at stake and it’s so essential to be involved. The 2024 presidential election will shape the future that my generation grows up in. It will shape the future that my generation raises our families in. The stakes could not be higher and we must wake up and take our country back!
