Legalized Press-titution – NBC NEWS

  • So even when they are available for the press, the press is not interested.

Last month, we covered how at the Republican National Convention, reporter Jacob Soboroff met Donald Trump Jr. on the arena floor and brought up the immigrant kids in cages canard. While the question was rather ridiculous, reporters on site asking probing or challenging questions is not a problem. But at the Democratic eviction party, we are not seeing this same level of interrogation, and it was with particular amusement that we see Soboroff once again, and he is far less aggressive with the notable figures.

Jacob is positively giddy at the chance to speak with Governor Tim Walz (seriously, man?!), and he used his time with the evasive candidate to ask inane questions before excitedly shaking his hand.

Pathetic.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – POLITICO

The resident senility-denier at Politico, Jonathan Martin, delivers his assessment of Day 1 at the DNC, and you get the sense that he may not have been in attendance. In his glowing appraisal of the Kamala Harris non-campaign, he makes a judgment of the state of the Democrats that is rather divorced from reality:

Democrats arrive here, a city that’s played host to so many drama-filled political conventions, as a party lacking in drama. They are disciplined, orderly and united around Vice President Kamala Harris.

Seriously, what the hell, Martin?! How are they lacking in drama when there are hundreds of protesters confronting police and breaking through security fencing? Plus, this is a party that has been marinating in drama since the Biden-Trump debate, renovating its ticket and contending with a wing-nut VP selection who has delivered controversies on a daily basis. But sure…”lacking drama.”

Gilded Reframe – PHILADELPHIA ENQUIRER

  • It’s not like there was video with audio you could have referred to in order to…oh, wait – there was exactly THAT.

J.D. Vance was making a campaign stop in Philadelphia, and because it is constitutionally required of all candidates to consume food on camera from local landmark eateries, he stopped at Pat’s to get a Philly cheesesteak. The local paper broke the story that Vance misordered his sandwich, and as a result, his campaign is officially over and impeachment proceedings are certain to follow.

Small matter regarding this career-ending, food-based faux pas – it was complete garbage.

Vance is seen on tape talking with the proprietor and he asked the man why it was so offensive to ask for Swiss cheese on the cheesesteak. Vance was making a sly reference to John Kerry’s ill-fated moment where he asked for Swiss, and the local paper surely had to know this, intentionally putting out a false headline. It ended up issuing a “clarification,” but it kept the original post active, so it continues to be shared.

Presentation Paradox – MSNBC

  • Is this denying previous evidence or the current reality?

In completely unbiased fashion, on the entirely non-partisan MSNBC network, Jen Psaki was making a purely objective observation that Donald Trump and J.D. Vance were speaking to a very narrow slice of a demographic of the country, while Kamala and Assistant Coach Walz are addressing the vast swath of America. Of course, this ignores the polls showing the growing support for the GOP among minorities, as well as the large crowds Trump draws at his rallies.

Jen was looking just a bit more foolish on this matter as she said this with a partially empty arena over her shoulder.

Pulitzer Prize Nomination – POLITICO

  • I guess with dozens of others in the room assiduously detailing her caloric intake, this cannot be called an EXCLUSIVE.

Christopher Cadelago can clear some room on his shelving, as a bronze medallion from the Pulitzer committee is sure to be his any day now.
