Democratic Custodial Services – MSNBC
- It's not even whataboutism, it is party-focused finger-pointing.
As the press continues to shame themselves by attempting to reinterpret Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulling the fire alarm this weekend, Chris Hayes was undeterred in embarrassing himself on the matter.
Hayes tries to draw a comparison to what Bowman did with the embarrassing episode of Rep. Lauren Boebert being caught groping a date at a stage play performance. It is as lame as any other explanation made by journalists this weekend while displaying blatant partisanship in the process. Boebert committed no crime, was not interfering with the legislative process, and notably, no one in the media was supporting her with a list of ways to excuse her behavior.
This whole thing is a bit silly and embarrassing. Like the Boebert Beetlejuice affair, it’s deserving of lots of jokes, but in the end not that big a deal?

Race Top the Bottom – WASHINGTON POST

When California Governor Gavin Newsom announced his replacement for Dianne Feinstein in the Senate would be Laphonza Butler, his decision turned heads. And caused its share of laughter as well. Butler has near zero political experience (beyond fundraising for the Democrats), and more importantly, she is a resident of Maryland. Yeah, that should have been a detail cleaned up prior to that rush to announce, Gavin.
Washington Post columnist Philip Bump has had a rough month of September, and he appears in no way willing to slow down on the idiocy. He decided that when Butler was facing these rather obvious criticisms, he could not exactly refute what were obvious problems, so he decided the best course of action was to deflect, by introducing…race, for some reason?
The appointment of Laphonza Butler to the Senate is a good moment to note how rarely senators have not been White men.https://t.co/CcoiTbsjEl pic.twitter.com/pqRbMVrLaG

Presentation Paradox – MSNBC
- Do we conclude then that running a campaign is tougher than running an entire country?
We had this one set aside from last week (okay, we sort of lost track of it) but had to get to it anyway. On "Morning Joe," the namesake host was speaking with Jen Palmieri and went off on one of his pet topics of late, insisting on what Joe Biden must do to defeat Donald Trump.
Scar-Joe went on one of his rants and declared that the people in the Biden campaign needed to do more to get the negative-Trump messages out, and then he made a truly odd declaration. He wondered loudly if the campaign was comprised of 80-year-olds. Watch as Palmieri reacts instantly, while Joe does not grasp he was critical of anyone that age working the campaign…of the president who IS that age.
Here is the usual brilliance by @JoeNBC .

While coaching Jen Palmieri on how the Biden campaign should operate, he questions their competency by asking if everyone there is 80 years old.
So, Scar-Joe thinks 80 is too old to run a campaign, but not too old to run the country. pic.twitter.com/mf97OvrOc1
Stealth Story Evolution – ESPN
The long-brewing case of serious sexual harassment charges lodged at former Major League Baseball pitcher Trevor Bauer has come to an end, with Bauer essentially exonerated. The suits against him have been dropped without him making any settlement, although that does little to repair his effective ouster from the league. (He is playing in Japan these days.)
In reporting on the matter, ESPN has a rather deadpan approach. While the outlet alludes to Bauer being in possession of phone evidence, the outlet does not fully detail these damning communications.
Bauer showed that on the night the woman was supposedly attacked, she posted shots of herself smiling and unharmed. He also produced a series of text messages she made with friends plotting to go after Bauer and extort money from him after consenting to be together. These had been sent out prior to her and Bauer even meeting.

Anti-Social Media – CNN
CNN cited a study and concluded that raising your voice to a child is just as damaging as physical or sexual abuse.
It should surprise no one that while this study does condemn vocal abuse, it never goes to the length of equating it with actual physical abuse.

- Do you still get a byline if you simply did a cut/paste from the White House email?
From the White House Press Briefing Room, Jeff Mason of Reuters delivers some treacly prose regarding Joe and Hunter Biden. We cannot get TOO critical of this swooning, however, because good thing for Mason, KJP was the one who delivered this sweet messaging; all Jeff had to do was report on what she said.
