Democratic Custodial Services – VARIOUS OUTLETS
- A Democrat was in the wrong — time to explain why it was the right thing to do.
If you paid any attention to the news this weekend (and applause if you properly did not!), you certainly heard of Democrat Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulling a fire alarm when votes were being cast to extend funding of the government and dodge a shutdown. The excuses from the Bowman camp of his confusion with trying to open a door that normally is not blockaded fell apart for numerous reasons.
His “rush” to get to the vote would have been better served taking the tunnels in the Capitol, fire alarms have little to do with doors opening, his alleged accidental action was dispelled by a photo of him deliberately yanking on the alarm, and any supposed confusion he may have had is not believable given his past as a school administrator and a principal for over a decade who has a working knowledge of clearly marked FIRE ALARMS.
This however did not stop the press from rushing to defend Bowman and explain away his actions, while blaming Republicans for making a big deal out of...a federal crime being perpetrated.

- ABC CHANNEL 7 NEWS D.C.: Republicans “accuse” Bowman of doing the thing he is captured on video doing.
- MSNBC'S CHRIS HAYES: Was it genuinely confusing? “It sure is!”
- THE ATLANTIC: ”It was an accident caused by a door that is normally open but is closed on the weekends. With a set of confusing signs.”
Perhaps our favorite was MSNBC’s Yasmin Vossoghian who went to great lengths to explain to us what actually happened involving Bowman. This is as strained and forced an excuse as you’ll see on cable news, as Yasmin deflects and then reads uncritically from the explanation by Bowman’s office. Fair to say, Yasmin was seen committing some sort of journalism on MSNBC this weekend...

Pulitzer Prize Nominee – CBS NEWS
It has become borderline sickening that you cannot watch an NFL game involving the Kansas City Chiefs without being inundated with mentions and images of Taylor Swift, as she is now supposedly dating star tight end Travis Kelce. The broadcasts are filled with her appearances in the skybox to watch him play, references to her songs are dropped during the play-by-plays, and “seemingly ranch” is now everyone’s punchline.
It is in sheer desperation to bank on this hype that CBS News had a story of little relevance about an aquatic discovery washing up on the beach and it forced a mention of our culture’s “It Couple” for absolutely no affiliated reason.
A "relatively rare" sighting was discovered this week: A massive stingray nearly the length of Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Taylor Swift's rumored beau. https://t.co/MQBq49vRh7

DNC PR Firm – NBC NEWS
Today marks the start of grown adults having to face decisions they have previously made as...uh, grown adults. Student debt forgiveness periods have come to an end this month which means the people who agreed to take out loans for their secondary educations now have to begin making good on those promises to repay them – and NBC News expects us to feel sympathy for these folks, in contrast to expecting us to bail them out with our taxes.
What is remarkable is the list of people we are supposed to feel sorry for, as they face payments for the poor decisions they made. A sampling:
- The teacher who got her Masters but then quit her job as a teacher because she could not afford to pay her loans, so she now is a freelance writer making far less, at $200 monthly.
- A Human Resources administrator who used the grace period to not save money but to load up credit cards so he has more loans to pay off.
- A man with four kids in college but needed the loan forgiveness in order to protect an inheritance he had received.
- A couple where the husband was a philosophy professor but decided the best way to help support the family was...to take out another student loan in order to go into law school??? Combined, the couple has (wait for it...) $ONE MILLION in student loans!
Student loan payments restart today, forcing borrowers to take on more debt and put off saving for retirement. https://t.co/phJ9EfVAAi

1st Amendment Strike Force (or whatever the Canadian equivalent might be) – CANADIAN GOVERNMENT
- Registering with the state sure has a ring to it of some other form of oppressive government.
What was it, just about a week ago that we reported on how the Canadian Parliament gave a standing ovation to a literal Nazi war criminal?
Then it is with little surprise that we see this report on how Justin Trudeau wants to force podcasters and other broadcasters to register with the government. This is about as dark and ominous as it can sound.
The CRTC is advancing its regulatory plan to modernize Canada's broadcasting framework and ensure online streaming services make meaningful contributions to Canadian and Indigenous content. Registration collects basic information, is only required once and can be completed in just a few steps. CRTC is setting conditions for online streaming services to operate in Canada. These conditions take effect today and require certain online streaming services to provide the CRTC with information related to their content and subscribership.
Just another day in the free land of Fascist Canada.

1st Amendment Strike Force – MARION COUNTY RECORD
Last month it was a bit surprising when some small-town skullduggery and melodrama led to a local newspaper being raided. A small Kansas weekly — The Marion County Record — had its offices raided and computers seized, and the homes of the publisher and owner were also the site of confiscations by local authorities. This was all supposedly concerning the suspected release of private information regarding a local business owner wanting a liquor license while a past DUI was on the books, invalidating their application.
This seemingly minor — and disputed — offense was believed to be a cover for the police chief seeking personal retribution over investigations the paper had been conducting about his own past.
The equipment was later returned and the basis of the probe was vacated by other authorities.
This weekend came word that the police chief has now been suspended.
