Anti-Social Media – CONGRESS / IRS

Recall recently when journalist Matt Taibbi was at a House hearing and was getting grilled by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz about making money off of the Twitter Files? Well, more ridiculous than the accusation that it was somehow wrong to make money in your chosen profession, we now learn that Taibbi has been targeted by the IRS.

More ludicrous than that, he had an agent visit his home at the time he was in D.C. testifying before Congress. That he had no prior contact or correspondence leading up to that visit only makes a personal house call from the tax agency all the more nefarious-sounding.

DNC PR Firm – FORBES MAGAZINE

  • At least they did not ask when he stopped beating his wife!

The media attacks on Gov. Ron DeSantis continue unabated, and if anything, they are only getting worse. In the most recent sign of reportorial dysfunction at Forbes, they reached out to the DeSantis press office for a comment on a piece being worked on where the entire premise appears to have already been written based on the questions being asked.

The piece will be featuring the word "woke" being suddenly declared a divisive slur, and the writer even contends they are addressing DeSantis appealing to "the most primitive racist proclivities of his electorate."

The only way to make this any more slanted would be to go ahead and declare it needs to be referred to as "the W-word" from now on.

Demo-lition Program – THE DAILY SHOW

It was recently, this Fall, when Trevor Noah departed from his desk on "The Daily Show," and there was all manner of career overview plaudits covering his retirement from the show. In the intervening time, Comedy Central has not fixed on a replacement, instead choosing to go with a revolving cast of guest hosts who have sat in for weekly stints.

In a bit of a data-inspired slap to the departed host, the program has been doing more than just surviving in his absence.

- "Comparing the first quarter of 2023…with the first quarter of 2022 when Noah was host, Deadline understands that linear ratings are up 13%. On the social side, views are up 16% in this period compared with last year."

Presentation Paradox – NEWSWEEK

  • Sooo…conservatives are crazy for citing your own research?

As we covered earlier, the press has not been dealing well with the fact that a school shooting took place and the killer was a trans individual – like, at all. Amidst all the unhinged reactions and reports comes this dose of conflicting coverage from Newsweek. In one report, they detail how some Republicans dared to suggest that hormone therapy could have had an impact on the shooter's psyche. The problem, as the outlet sees it, is they are doing so "without providing any evidence."

Well, maybe they should just link to the Newsweek article posted the same morning that lays out the various ways that hormone therapy has been shown to lead to adverse effects. Those transitioning have seen the hormones administered affect their brains, and in the case of females transitioning to males – such as in the case of the Nashville shooter – the administering of testosterone also showed elevated levels of aggression.

Those nutty conservatives…

Pathological Media Amnesia – ABC NEWS

  • A rare case of a journalist being too hard on himself?

Terry Moran of ABC News looked at the coming prospect of verified blue-check accounts seeing their vaunted status coming to an end unless they pay a monthly subscription to Twitter Blue to retain the privilege.

Moran has opinions on the matter.

- "Glad to see the original blue checkmark go away. It served no real purpose, except as a focus of preening vanity on one side, sneering resentment on the other."

We all need to listen intently to Terry's words on the matter. After all, he is a well-respected Twitter legacy.

Pulitzer Prize Nomination – NEW YORK POST

The Post ran a profile on a blonde woman who is a heavy-duty crane operator. The piece was centered around the fact that she feels extremely bothered about one aspect of her job.

She made herself available for numerous photographs to be featured in the piece for a national news outlet, as well as being promoted across all of their social media platforms – to announce how she is complaining about the fact that people are constantly staring at her.
