Back when I was a young Airborne officer, anytime one of our fellow paratrooper officers did something really dumb, they disappeared. We called it the “Black Chinook” that came and took them away, meaning they were dismissed from our unit and reassigned elsewhere. No young Lieutenant wanted to have the Black Chinook come pick them up. It would seem that this mysterious aircraft is making landings and pick-ups in President Trump’s White House.
For the second week, Friday to be exact, there has been a departure from the White House, this time Dr. Sebastian Gorka. His exit follows the previous Friday’s departure of Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, and apparently, the writing was on the wall. However, it was the statement made by Dr. Gorka that should give pause.
Dr. Gorka released a statement stating,“[G]iven recent events, it is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are – for now – ascendant within the White House…The fact that those who drafted and approved the speech removed any mention of Radical Islam or radical Islamic terrorism proves that a crucial element of your presidential campaign has been lost…”
The question those who voted for President Trump should ask themselves is simple, “what is the ascendant philosophy of governance” in the Trump administration? I think anyone that is under a belief that the Trump administration is one of a constitutional conservative governing principle, now, is delusional. Yes, I know, I am opening myself up to massive criticism and there may even be those who will call me a member of the swamp or other denigrating monikers. We all know that to be a laughable assertion.
I am an objective observer that is asking a very pertinent question, shall the Trump administration pursue an ideological agenda that is focused on limited government, fiscal responsibility, individual sovereignty, free market/free enterprise, and strong national defense? Or shall President Trump be pulled in a direction that contradicts much of his campaign rhetoric, promises?

I thought the speech by President Trump articulating his Afghanistan strategy was excellent, and I did recognize the absence of the terminology “radical Islamic terrorists or jihadists”. The issue going forward is shall that strategy be implemented, nation building versus intense enemy oriented strike operations? It is however obvious that someone is persuading President Trump to do as he criticized Barack Obama for doing, not specifically identifying the enemy.
More importantly, in what direction shall we see economic growth policies head? Will we see the restoration of American production and manufacturing?
Last Saturday, Townhall.com columnist Steve Sherman made some interesting observations in his piece “Will Trump make American Steel Great Again”:
“Dumping artificially low-priced steel into the US market undercuts domestic steel company’s ability to compete. The administration can bring it to an end with sanctions against the offending countries. The Commerce Department’s investigation falls under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 and authorizes the Secretary of Commerce to conduct comprehensive investigations to determine the effects of imports of any article on the national security of the United States.”
The point of concern is whether the Trump administration philosophy of governance has shifted away from such campaign proclamations of “America First” to one more centered on a globalist economic vision. There are those who seemingly have demonized the concept of “economic nationalism”, but to the hard working people of the United States, it is about America First and bringing back to our Nation, to the common man and woman, a sense of pride in creating here with those words “Made in America.” But if there is one thing I know about “The Swamp,” it is that there are always competing special interests that will preclude the right thing from being done. The question is, who within the Trump administration is the greatest advocate for the American people?
Let’s be honest, President Trump’s daughter and son-in-law are not exactly principled constitutional conservatives. Trump'd economic advisor is hardly known in political circles as such, and, well, who knows what Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin is? The critical point that Dr. Sebastian Gorka made in his statement alludes to, “who has the president'd ear, who is the most sought after and trusted confidant…and what are their principles”? That is the question going forward for President Donald Trump and his administration that many will be watching. President Trump must now realize that he cannot abdicate legislative policy over to Capitol Hill without his guidance, intent, and involvement, but who will be structuring that guidance? A very important part of Infrastructure Reform is the production of steel, rebar--will that come from American producers, or will the globalists win the day?
President Trump made the campaign promise to drain the swamp, for now, it appears that the swamp is draining him. And If I were Stephen Miller, I would be watching the skies for the Black Chinook, especially right before a Labor Day weekend when college football kicks off its season.
