Former DNC chairman Robert S. Strauss passed away Wednesday at 95. A close adviser to Jimmy Carter, Strauss also had memorable interactions with Republicans. Strauss told Ronald Reagan that the Iran-contra arms-for-hostages scandal was harming the administration, and President George Bush appointed Strauss as ambassador to the Soviet Union in 1991.
