WikiLeaks: Erica Garner Slams Clinton Campaign Over Emails Discussing How to Use Her Father's Death

The daughter of Eric Garner, the man who died in a police chokehold in 2014, blasted the Clinton campaign on Thursday after new WikiLeaks emails showed staffers discussing using her father’s death in an op-ed published by Clinton.

Garner tweeted, "I'm troubled by the revelation that you and this campaign actually discussed 'using' Eric Garner … Why would you want to 'use' my dad?"

It’s a good question because the op-ed, which was published in the New York Daily News in March, was about gun control.

“Finally, I know we have Erica Garner issues but we don’t want to mention Eric at all? I can see her coming after us for leaving him out of the piece,” Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill wrote in the emails.

Senior policy adviser Maya Harris was quick to point out that “Eric Garner not included because not killed by gun violence.”

"Why was the Clinton campaign searching for dead people to capitalize on? Why wouldn't you call it police violence?" Garner wrote in a series of tweets.
