What is Executive Privilege?

As the House prepares to vote on a contempt resolution for Attorney General Eric Holder this afternoon, the House Oversight Committee has produced a video about presidential executive privilege. As a reminder, President Obama asserted executive privilege last week just 15 minutes before debate the House Oversight Committee vote for contempt started. The committee voted last week for contempt 23-17. At this point, the White House has not admitted any direct involvement in Operation Fast and Furious, despite three White House national security team advisers receiving emails about the program in 2010. President Obama has said he did not authorize the program.
